Classical Liberal Party of Virginia Statement for Transgender Day of Visibility

Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, we reaffirm a fundamental principle: respect for the inherent dignity, worth, unique attributes, and human rights of all individuals—without exception. A free society thrives when individuals are empowered to express themselves openly, pursue their own happiness, and live without undue interference from the state or society.

Transgender people, like all individuals, have the right to personal autonomy, freedom of expression, and association without discrimination—whether by the state or by state-like entities. Liberty is not selective; it applies to all. We support LGBTQ+ people’s right to live openly, with equal rights and protections under the law.

A government rooted in classical liberal principles, as envisioned by the Founders, does not dictate how people should live their lives; it exists to secure the natural rights and freedoms of all individuals. The Founders championed a system where liberty is the default, and government’s role is to protect, not restrict, personal autonomy. Transgender Day of Visibility serves as a reminder that transgender people are not seeking special privileges but rather the same fundamental rights as everyone else.

We stand for a society where individuals are free to define their own identities, live authentically, and participate fully in civic life. True liberty demands nothing less.
